Public selection, based on qualifications and interview, for awarding a research fellowship (Assegno di ricerca n. 17/2024) for conducting the activities specified below:

Title of research activity: “From the sea to the Gut: ODontElla aurita as prebiotic (GODdEsSEA)”
Duration: 12 (twelve) months, renewable
Research location: Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn, BLUBIO, Naples – Molosiglio, Italy
Supervisor: Dr. Gerardo Della Sala

Brief description of the research: The GODdEsSEA project aims to assess the beneficial effects of the fermented products deriving from the interactions between Odontella aurita prebiotic and probiotics, for human health as well as to improve health status in farmed fish species. In the frame of GODdEsSEA, the Research Fellowship Programme includes three main activities: a) lab cultivation of Lactobacillus species, b) mass-spectrometry-based metabolomics of Odontella aurita biomass grown under different light climates and after enzymatic digestion; (c) chemical characterization of fermentation products deriving from the interactions between Odontella aurita and Lactobacillus species.

Pre-requisites:
a) MSc degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology and similar
degrees, or equivalent qualification obtained abroad;
b) At least 1 publication on ISI journals;
c) Knowledge of English.

Amount of the research fellowship
The gross annual amount of the research fellowship, is set at € 19,456.83.
