Accuplex Diagnostics released the rapid test SideroTec HiSen™, which detects inflammation-causing microbes with sensitivity up to 100 times greater than other methods, in just 10 minutes without the need for culturing.
Siderophores are used also by some infectious bacteria and fungi to capture iron from their surrounding environment. So, the identification of specific siderophores could infer the existence of specific (harmful) microorganisms.

A single ready-to-use fluorescent label for detection of siderophores and other iron chelation molecules in aqueous, organic, or biological samples.
How it works
The test identifies siderophore compounds at very low concentration; even 100 times lower that existing tests.
10 minutes are enough for this Rapid-test to identify infection by bacteria/fungi at early stages
Where to be used:
- Water samples
- Early-stage culture supernatant (6 – 9 hours)
- 96 well microbial inhibition assays
- Detection of siderophores in an insect infection model
- Iron chelation potential of novel iron chelators
- Siderophore detection in a range of organic solvents with no interference
Requires
- 100µl of sample
- 100µl of ready-to-use reagent
- 10-minute incubation at 37 C
