The SECRETed project held its Final Webinar on 27 November 2025, bringing its scientific and outreach activities to a close. The event drew 105 registered participants representing 62 organisations, reflecting broad interest in the project’s findings and its contributions to marine-based sustainable biotechnology. The programme included 9 scientific presentations, featuring an invited contribution from Prof. Evangelos Topakas of the National Technical University of Athens. Researchers from the consortium and the A.I.M.S. Cluster shared progress in several key areas, including:
- Computational approaches for natural product discovery
- Genomic exploration of siderophore diversity
- Innovation in biosurfactant production
- Microbial platforms derived from extremophiles
- Bioprocesses for cosmetic ingredient development
- Identification of metabolites from deep-sea microorganisms
- Sustainable strategies for DHA biorefinery
These presentations highlighted the tools, datasets, and technological advances achieved throughout the SECRETed project.
Attendees also learned how these developments can be applied in sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, and environmental technologies. The interactive Q&A sessions supported direct engagement with presenters and encouraged opportunities for future collaboration.
The webinar offered a meaningful and well-attended conclusion to SECRETed’s efforts to promote open knowledge exchange and advance innovation in marine biotechnology.
We extend our sincere thanks to all participants, speakers, and partners for contributing to the success of this final event.
